What To Watch On TV: Tuesday Edition

TV Shows
American Idol @ 8pm
So what did everyone think of last week's guest Mariah Carey? Was it a cruel elimination last week? We all thought Kristy and Brooke were safe when they were grouped with David C. Which was meaner-- switching David C. with Syesha -- or asking David A. to choose the "safe" group. Thus humiliating the lower group evern more. Wonder what's in store this week? Tonight, six remaining finalists perform songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit @ 10pm "Don't ask, don't tell" isn't just for the military as Benson comes to discover when she accidentally outs a pro quarterback while investigating the murder of an investment banker. Turns out the man was secretly involved with the athlete, and the shocking news leads to a hate-crime attack that lands the footballer in the hospital — but not off the suspect list. Want more shocking news? It seems Benson is seeing someone on the sly, too, and the relationship may have compromised the case. Bill Pullman guest stars as Benson's secret squeeze.

Dancing With the Stars @ 9pm
Now that Elvis' widow has left the building (gee, you haven't heard that before, right?), we're down to seven couples — well, maybe six since it's pretty clear that Kristi isn't going home anytime soon. But before the next duo is eliminated, there's the performance part of the show, and, once again, it's a full slate. Ashlee Simpson sings "Boys," from her latest album, Bittersweet World, accompanied by ballroom experts Artem Chigvintsev, Genya Mazo, Lilit Avagyan and Anna Tovbin. Also, Riverdance brings its Irish-dancing expertise to the floor, and two teams of dancers age 13 and under compete.

Boston Legal @ 10pm
The Fourth of July is still a few months away, but we can probably expect some fireworks in Washington, D.C., when Alan gets a chance to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court. And since we can assume where the überliberal Alan will come down on the case — an appeal on a capital-punishment sentence involving a mentally challenged man accused of statutory rape — this dream of a lifetime for many an attorney could turn into a nightmare for the Courfaction of John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas.
