David Blaine appeared on Oprah today in hopes of setting the world record for holding his breath, and he did it! He held his breath for 17 minutes and 4 seconds, beating the 16 minute and 32 second previous record. Can you imagine? 17 minutes! While Blaine was underwater, he had to stay completely still in order to lower his heart rate and minimize oxygen consumption. Soooo, congratulations David, but you're still sorta weird!

David Blaine is ready for his next feat!  He'll attempt to beat the Guinness world record for a human holding their breath under water. And he'll do it on Oprah, just so he knows everyone will be watching! The current record is sixteen minutes and fourteen seconds. How he plans on beating that, we don't know! Fourteen seconds alone is difficult enough! On a side note, did you know that Beavers can hold their breath 45 minutes?...
