Christian de la Fuente Injured During Dance Routine

Christian de la Fuente had to be taken to the hospital after suffering from a serious injury to his forearm. Christian started his routine with Cheryl Burke and halfway though the dance he suddenly stopped and even dropped Cheryl. He was obviously in a lot of pain. He tried to go on but the host, Tom Bergeron noticed that he was in a lot of pain so he quickly went to a commercial break.

The good news is that Christian is going to live and the judges based their score on the dance routine before the injury. The bad news is that they received the lowest score of the night with only 21.

It wasn't half way through the dance it was the end, and he didn't drop burke she was on the floor waiting for the end of routine when he couldn't complete the routine. His footing and position for the dance prior to his grabbing of his arm was already off, burke was in the middle of the floor he was off to the side THEN he grabbed his arm, she wasn't even close to him. Bill-it's prob. true...

I'm not sure why anyone is saying she was on the floor waiting for the end of the routine, unless whoever said that hasn't actually seen the dance. But yes, she was spinning into position where he needed to support her with both of his arms as she slid between his legs. He couldn't support her with the injured arm, and so she fell to the floor, albeit only a few inches down. It is more than obvious that he was supposed to support her with both arms there (he did try, but the injured arm gave way immediately). As she fell to the floor, he fell with her, even though Cheryl was obviously unaware just yet as to his severe injury. The confusion on her face is clear, and then her expression changes to concern as he is trying to pull her up off the floor with the injured arm then has to switch to the non-injured one. After they came out of their sambo rolls is when he began to favor that arm, as they were dancing apart from each other. The video shows he loses his steps then as he turns and holds his arm briefly, but then as she turns to look at him, he tries to get back into the routine as they both smile at each other. So as far as Cheryl seemed to know then, he had just gotten off his footing, then regained it, so they continued the routine, until the spin and he did indeed drop her to the floor -- again, it was only a few inches, but he did drop her.
